Boone County DUI Patrol

NKy DUI defense attorney Michael Bouldin advises on new patrol in Boone County, Kentucky.  Thosse driving in Florence, Burlington, Union and Hebron should be especially cautious during this holiday season.  News from article.

Boone County's new 11-officer team "traffic blitzes" will be out as New Year's Eve weekend begins, according to a news release from Boone County Sheriff Michael A. Helmig.

The sheriff's new Traffic Division patrol goes beyond a traditional holiday crackdown. "Traffic blitzes" are part of an ongoing experiment the sheriff is conducting.

Patrols of four or five hours already conducted on U.S. 25, U.S. 42, Interstate-75 and I-275 have typically resulted in upwards of 60 to 80 traffic stop violations. Patrols go out in the late evening and early morning hours. Saturated patrols are used to target impaired drivers.

DUI arrests have been made. Drug charges have been filed. Warrants have been served, according to the release.

Weather permitting, patrols will be out Friday and Saturday at Ky. 18 and North Bend Road (Ky. 237).

"While we have always exercised a zero tolerance on alcohol and drug abuse this effort is my way of upping the ante on those who choose to overindulge and drive anyway," Helmig said.
